• The lauch film was followed by a series of commissioned films from LEGO Star Wars creators and animators, to help inspire potential entrants, and show off some of the key 2024 sets. You can see four of my favouites below.

  • LEGO - LEGO Star Wars 25th Anniversary - For those not into filmmaking, we also showed how you can still tell your own LEGO Star Wars story at home - with an incredible slo-mo fly through, TV ad. Again featuring the new 2024 sets.

  • As a special surprise & delight bonus for fans, we even created a LEGO bag, featuring a unique Aurebesh LEGO logo, that was given to anyone who bought a LEGO Star Wars set on the festival launch day. An amazing feat given the two brands involved.

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars (launched in 1999, alongside the release of The Phantom Menace) LEGO wanted to do something to showcase not just the incredible sets, but also the fans that have made them such a hit. So the LEGO Star Wars 25 Second Film Festival was born. Fans from around the world were invited to create their own cinematic mini-masterpieces and enter them into the festival. They could use any LEGO Star Wars sets they liked, brought to life in whatever style they wanted. It just had to be 25 seconds long.

We kicked it off with a super fun, 25 second call for entries (below). Budding film makers then had 2 months to make and submit their own film. We helped by supplying a kit full of hints, tips, and items - including genuine Star Wars SFX, logos, and library tracks for them to use. The festival went live on May 4th - Star Wars Day - with screenings online and in store.

In all, over 2hours 40mins worth of films were successfully submitted to the festival. That’s longer than any of the full length Star Wars movies. You can see them all on the LEGO Youtube channel.
